Davenport College has an active and enthusiastic Fellowship. Davenport’s Fellowship includes Fellows (distinguished Faculty and Staff at the University) and Associate Fellows (often Davenport alum or people who have made important contributions to New Haven and the larger society).

Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey

Biography

Author of Cross-Border Cosmopolitans: The Making of a Pan-African North America (UNC Press, 2023), Adjetey is a historian of the United States and African Diaspora. His current book projects examine gender and twentieth-century revolutionary Black organizing in the United States, and nineteenth-century African warfare along the Gulf of Guinea Coast. Dr. Adjetey is the back-to-back winner of McGill's H. Noel Fieldhouse Award for Distinguished Teaching (2022), and the Principal's Prize for Excellence in Teaching (2023). In August 2022, Adjetey was enstooled as Nii Laryea Osabu I, Atrékor Wé Oblahii kè Oblayéé Mantsè. Before pursuing a career in academia, he worked in youth gang prevention and intervention in north Toronto. Adjetey is a former varsity captain of the senior boys basketball team, MVP, and slam dunk contest winner.
