Brief biography:
I've been a writer since the early 1980s--and I've been teaching nonfiction writing nearly as long. I've published 7 books and for 16 years I was a member of the New York Times editorial board. Married to a novelist named Alexandra Enders. No children, but two dogs: a wire-haired dachshund (Teddy) and a Border Terrier (Ceilidh). Always looking for dogsitters. We live on 53 acres of fields and woods in Columbia County, New York.
