Brief biography:
My laboratory and I study the cell biology and physiology of epithelial cells. We focus on the cells of the kidney, which have a number of fascinating structural and functional properties. A large part of our effort is devoted to investigating a common genetic condition called Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease in order to understand the underlying mechanisms and to identify new targets for therapy. I married my college sweetheart and we have two children and one grandchild. We love to hike and to travel. Nine years ago we got chickens, in an overly literal response to the empty nest that may not have been carefully thought through.
