For more than three decades, Dr. Chang was a well-recognized authority in Civil and Geological Engineering and was deeply engaged in various infrastructural projects. In fact, as early as his junior year in college (in 1962-63), he designed the structure of a bell tower for Chung-Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. The bell tower still stands on the campus today and has become a symbol of the university. After retirement in 2006, he became very involved in the Yale University community, and in 2007-2008 he served as Consultant to Systems Engineering Office of Facilities. He worked with the manager of Office of Facilities on several projects, including reviewing the construction plans for the Yale Health Plan's new building with an attached parking garage as well as constructing the Geothermal System using the deep wells for the Kroon Hall. Dr. Chang is the husband of Professor Kang-i Sun Chang, who is also a Davenport Fellow. He has led a very active life. He loves music, art, and photography. One of his joys was working in the garden of his Woodbridge home. He also participated in works related to the Letter Printing Shop in Davenport College years ago.
