Brief biography:
I direct the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma at Columbia Journalism School, an interdisciplinary idea lab and resource center devoted to innovative and ethical news coverage of violence, crisis and tragedy as well as the resilience of news professionals worldwide. I also teach journalism ethics at Columbia. I am a Contributing Editor at The Nation magazine, and since 1994 have been a Lecturer in Yale College teaching a course on investigative journalism. I've lived in New Haven for over 40 years and began my journalism career here.
